The winter of Itsuki is perfectly clear with its chilly air among trees. Stars at night, rime on the trees, and town lights are brilliantly shining. This is a good scenic point that the locals recommend. Yatsushiro City, Izumi Branch TEL 0965-67-2111
Glitter of diamonds
Karimatayama and Minekoshitoge Rime
In winter, diamond-like frost can be seen in the mountains of Gokanosho. Even closely in Karimata yama and Minekoshitoge. It's worth a look.
Beautiful gradation of overlapping mountains
Two cedar
The entrance of Gokanosho is a lookout of Two Cedars. You can overlook the Kumamoto plain, Amakusa, and Nagasaki. In winter, you can also see frost of Karimatayama nearby. Please take a rest at the teahouse on the mountain pass.
Good for the sunset at the end of year and sunrise on New Year’s Day
Yayamadake summit park
This prefecture-leading sunrise spot gets crowded with people who come to worship the first sunrise on New Year's Day. It's also called “Small Fuji of Kumamoto.” Weather permitting, you can get a full view of the far Unzen. Moreover, it's famous as a night view spot looking out over Yatsushiro plain and Shiranui sea.
